Five years later.
Many people were discussing in the corridor outside the large pharmaceutical R&D room at Styma University.
"I heard the talented pharmacist, Ms. Death, will also take part in this trial. What do you think she looks like? Will she be a female scientist with thick glasses?"
"Who knows? Aren't all female straight-A students like that? They wear old-fashioned clothes and have hair like a chicken's nest. She can't compare with Jessie at all! If it weren't for the professor and the principal's protection, how could that Death come back to participate in such an important experiment?"
In the profession of pharmacists, experience was the key, just like in medicine. It was said Death was young, but the principal had attached great importance to her. Everybody suspected Death had played some tricks behind their backs.
While they were discussing, a female student rushed over and said, "She's coming!
"You would never have guessed! Death is such a beauty!"
The people who were discussing earlier were stunned and looked over at the same time.
Emma walked into the pharmaceutical research room under the admiring and jealous gazes of the crowd.
She put on her white coat and gloves and began to work.
In fact, she didn't want to come at all. The new medicine she developed was in an important clinical stage, but the principal and the professor called her eight times a day, so she could only come here.
"Hello, Death. I'm Lily from the department of pharmacy. The principal asked me to accompany you today. If you need anything, just tell me," Lily said, her eyes full of admiration.
Death was her idol. It was said Death was a genius student who skipped grades since she was a child. She was only 16 years old when she was admitted to Styma university. With her talent in pharmacy, she had won all kinds of pharmacy R&D awards since then. Lily considered herself extremely lucky to be able to stay with Death for a day today!
"Thank you for your hard work. Please show me the data."
"Alright."
The principal said the research had reached a bottleneck and hoped Death could come back to help. She didn't have much time, so she had to do it as soon as possible.
For the whole morning, Emma was reading the data and doing experiments. Even her lunch was delivered by Lily.
Emma picked up a bagel and chewed it unconsciously, staring at the data on the computer intently. She would record any changes when they happened.
Lily, who was watching from the side, secretly admired Death, who wasn't only talented but also diligent. Lily found Death indeed a well-deserved idol.
Just as she was about to say something, there was a sudden noise outside.
Emma said without raising her head, "Go out and have a look."
"Sure!"
A few minutes later, the door to the laboratory was pushed open again. Lily said in a slightly angry voice, "Death, someone wants to join you."
As soon as Lily finished speaking, a tall female student came in.
"Hello, I'm Jessie Lane. I've also applied for this job. I hope we can get along well."
"Change your clothes and come over here." There was no exchange of pleasantries, and Emma didn't even look back. Jessie, who was here to show her strength, had to swallow the rest of her words. She looked at Emma's back with a stiff face for a few seconds and then went to change her clothes.
After she sat down, Emma immediately handed her the data. "This is the new data from this morning. It's very different from the previous data. I suspect there's something wrong with the experimental process. If you want to break through the bottleneck this time, you can only do it again from the beginning."
"What?"
Jessie's expression changed when she heard this. She looked down and scanned the data. It was indeed very different from the previous one, but she had been involved in this experiment for three months. If she did it again now, all the time she had spent on this experiment would be wasted!
More importantly, she wouldn't know what to tell the professor and the principal!
"Death, I participated in this experiment from the beginning. There can't be such a big difference in data. You just started working on it this morning. Did you make a mistake?" Jessie's face was a little ugly.
Emma took off her goggles, and her expression remained unchanged. "I know it's very difficult for you to overthrow the previous results, but our drug research and development is a continuous experimental process." She pointed to certain data and said, "I just found a problem here. Under normal circumstances, the reaction data of using rats has never been so high. This can only show there's something wrong with the ingredients or composition of the drugs in the experiment."
"That's impossible...
"I personally measured the ingredients. There can't be any problem."
As Jessie spoke, she got up to get the measuring cup and mixed the ingredients again according to her memory.
Emma watched calmly. It wasn't until a certain step that she suddenly snapped, "You made a mistake!"
Jessie froze and looked at the powder in her hand in shock.
"We can have more than 0.1 milligrams of this ingredient, but you just ad 0.2.
Her words made Jessie speechless. Students in the corridor had already opened the door quietly. Listening to the sound coming from inside, they looked at each other.
"Isn't it amazing? She could even see the difference between 0.1 and 0.2 milligrams!"
"What's the big deal? She's a genius pharmacist!"
"Shut up!" The girl who had said Emma's hair was probably like a chicken's nest spoke again, "How can anyone have such a sharp eye? I think this Death is exaggerating the facts. She just wants to bully Jessie. Doing the experiment again from the beginning? Is she going to pay for the research and development funds?"
When Emma heard the voice outside, she took out her mobile phone with a serious look and was ready to call the principal. The future of this experiment concerned human life, and no mistakes were allowed in the research and development process.
"I'll pay for it!"
The speaker had a deep voice. Several students subconsciously turned their heads and saw a man in a well-ironed suit striding over. His eyes were as cold as a blade, and he exuded a chilling aura.
"I'm Arthur Wilson, the president of Wilson Group. I'll pay for everything to rerun the experiments."
Arthur Wilson?
Why was he here?
